The 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia are over and NCAA hockey has made its stamp on the men's and women's national programs throughout the world.
We watched some excellent games in both divisions. We were on the edge of our seats as the US battled Canada in the Women's Championship and we learned first hand about the success that results from discipline and the excellence of execution from the Canadian Men's team.
One of the big things I noticed about these games is the presence of the NCAA in ice hockey. NCAA Ice Hockey is no longer a North American thing. It is a Global thing!
In the men's division, there were current and alumni players on five different countries. On the women's side, the were six countries represented. In total, there were ten countries represented in the main tournament and over 90 current and alumni players and coaches.
More players from around the world are setting their sights on playing NCAA ice hockey. The
competition to earn a spot is increasing. The big question from this is "What are you doing to get noticed?".
